Apocalypse of the earth is the biggest threat for us. Since many times small threats have arrived but we haven`t witnessed any big calamity from Space.
Recently NASA(National Aeronautical and Space Administration) has a meeting with FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) for the probable threat of asteroid Collision with earth in 2020.Both agencies teamed up, to prepare for this threat by holding exercise for an emergency situation. In This Exercise they would work together to evaluate the threat , prevent panic and save as many people as they can from this collision.
NASA`s Science Mission Directorate`s Administrator gave a statement , "But unlike any other time in our history, we now have the ability to respond to an impact threat through continued observations, predictions, response planning and mitigation”. "It is critical to exercise these kinds of low-probability but high-consequence disaster scenarios," FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate said in the statement. "By working through our emergency response plans now, we will be better prepared if and when we need to respond to such an event."
This Asteroid is around 300 to 800 Feet – this is the latest scenario they recorded. At first when they know about this asteroid their was only 2 percent probability of asteroid being a strike to earth in 2020.As the time goes , the trajectory of asteroid shifted and Probability of strike becomes 65% and then become 100% in May 2017. Location, where there are most chances of impact, is Southern California or nearby in the Pacific Ocean.
