Returning for 2015, the London Coffee Festival is the UK’s largest coffee and artisan food event, a celebration of London's vibrant coffee culture featuring gourmet coffee, speciality tea, artisan food, demonstrations from world-class baristas, live music and a comprehensive ‘lab’ seminar programme that will educate even the keenest of coffee lovers. Visitors can learn about the various ways to make and brew coffee at home, taste signature drinks and explore the Milk & Sugar area featuring fashion, design and food events.
After two industry days on April 30 and May 1, the festival kicks off its public events on Friday May 1 with an evening session (5-8pm) and the ‘Espresso Martini Launch Party’ (8-10pm). On Saturday May 2 and Sunday May 3, tickets are available for three-hour sessions: brunch (10am-1pm), lunch (1-4pm) and tea (4-7pm).
The festival is the flagship event of UK Coffee Week (May 4-10) and features fundraising events in aid of Project Waterfall, a charity that delivers clean water projects to coffee producing countries.
Features for 2015 include a new multi-disciplinary barista competition called the Coffee Masters, in which some of the world’s best baristas compete for a £5,000 cash prize. There will be food courtesy of Arancini Bros, Herman ze German and St John Bakery. And La Marzocco will once again be running its True Artisan Café pop-up coffee shop, raising money for Project Waterfall, the festival’s chosen charity.
Also featuring this year is the Coffee Art Project competition, which showcases artistic creativity by inviting both up-and-coming and established artists – in any medium – to submit an original piece about the concept of 'coffee' or a 'coffee shop experience'. The winning artist will receive a cash prize of £ 1,500 and five other shortlisted runners-up will receive £250. London Coffee Festival visitors will be able to vote for their favourite piece.
